Agrigento

Provincia d’origine di due grandi autori italiani del XX secolo, Luigi Pirandello e Leonardo Sciascia, Agrigento è una provincia ricca di storia e cultura. Tra le innumerevoli cose da vedere la spettacolare Valle dei Templi, gli scavi archeologici di Eraclea Minoa e di Sant’Angelo Muxaro.

Palermo

La provincia con “il più bel promontorio del mondo”, è quella della Conca d’Oro, quella in cui visse Federico II con la sua Corte e in cui si diffuse la Poetica della Scuola Siciliana, Palermo luogo dove tutto è natura, arte, cultura e storia.

Catania

Catania è una provincia ricca di natura e cultura in cui poter ammirare il maestoso paesaggio del Parco del Monte Etna, le ceramiche di Caltagirone, e il barocco di Militello Val di Catania, e dove poter gustare i pistacchi di Bronte.

Taormina

È uno dei centri turistici internazionali di maggiore rilievo della Sicilia per il suo incantevole paesaggio naturale, le bellezze marine e i suoi monumenti storici.

Cefalù

Cefalù viene citata per la prima volta dallo studioso Diodoro Siculo nel 396 a.C. ma la città si distingue per la sua impronta tipicamente medievale. Partendo da piazza Garibaldi e proseguendo per corso Ruggero fino alla splendida piazza del Duomo già si comincia a gustare l'atmosfera splendidamente intatta di questa perla del mediterraneo.

Siracusa

Pantalica, la Valle d’Anapo, Palazzolo Acreide, Noto, Avola, Vindicari sono soltanto alcuni dei luoghi da visitare in questa bellissima provincia. La città conserva oggi tantissime testimonianze del passato visibili all’interno del parco archeologico e nell’isola di Ortigia, nucleo originario della città.

Ragusa

Ciò che affascina di questa provincia è il ricchissimo patrimonio archeologico (Cava d’Ispica, Monte Cassia, Camarina sono solo alcuni dei siti) ed architettonico (Ragusa Ibla e Modica) Situata a sud dei Monti Iblei tra i corsi dei fiumi Ippari ed Irminio, la città si distingue in due nuclei: Ragusa Superiore e Ragusa Ibla.

Enna

Splendida provincia, conosciuta in tutto il mondo per i mosaici di Piazza Armerina e per il lago di Pergusa, splendido luogo naturalistico in cui, secondo un antico mito, Plutone rapì Proserpina.

Caltanissetta

La “terra dei castelli” è tra le province siciliane quella più lontana dagli itinerari turistici tradizionali, ma è sicuramente un luogo dove poter riscoprire e conoscere le tradizioni e la cultura del passato.

Messina

La provincia delle leggende e dei miti dell’eroe Ulisse, la provincia delle isole Eolie. Situata sulla costa occidentale dello Stretto di Messina, il suo nome più antico è Zancle (termine dorico siculo che significa falce ed è riferito alla forma della penisola di San Ranieri).

SATURDAY (D):  TAORMINA AREA                 
Individual arrival at any time in Taormina area. On this day there are no planned activities, so check into our hotel (the rooms will be ready after 14:00) and enjoy the city. Overnight.

SUNDAY:  “UNDISCOVERED SICILY  and OPTIONAL EXCURSION TAORMINA & SICILIAN FOOD
Breakfast in the hotel. Departure to Casiglione di Sicilia, a small medieval town also known as the “wine city”, where we you can admire Its legendary castle, rich palaces and churches. Then we discover Francavilla di Sicilia, a stunning town in the Alcantara valley, where a violent battle occurred between the Spaniards and Austrians in the 16th Century. Here we will also visit the Capucin Monastery (Admission fee €2 not included), founded in the 16th Century. We then head to the Alcantara Gorges (Gole dell’Alcantara). The water in the river is always cool, it attracts hundreds wishing to take a refreshing dip on hot summer days. To get down into the gorge you can either take the stairs or there is an elevator (fee € 13 not included) that will whisk you down the 50 meters to the river. The small beach area is great for getting your feet wet, sunbathing, or if you desire to jump in there are areas where the water is a little deeper so you can dive in.

Transfer to Taormina. As you walk and discover the amazing town of Taormina, hear tales about the history and the evolution of Sicilian food culture. Discover the importance of fresh and flavourful ingredients to Sicilian cuisine, and hear how the cuisine’s popularity has spread across the globe. Pass by beautiful old buildings, including the 15th-century Palazzo Corvaja and an ancient Greek Roman theatre the 2nd largest classical theatre in Sicily (Admission fee €10 not included). Discover the medieval area of the town with its narrow strest and old shops. You can opt to eat a tasty Bruschetta and a glass of Grillo or House Red wine in a open garden space. You will then brought to discover how Sicilian “Arancini” are made and to eat one of them. After, follow your guide to a pasticceria, where you will have to chance to eat a typical Sicilian Cannolo and drink a Sicilian Espresso (Supplement for food €10 not included). Re-entry at your hotel in the afternoon. Dinner and Overnight.  
 
 MONDAY: CATANIA - SIRACUSA
Breakfast in the hotel and departure to Catania by Bus for a walking tour through the streets into Catania’s UNESCO-listed historical center with its Baroque palazzi and amazing monuments. Before hopping on the bus, visit of the open-air fish market, famous for its particular colours. Continuation to Syracuse, one of the most interesting archaeological sites of the island with its Archeological Park (Admission fee €10 not included), the Roman Amphitheatre, the Greek Theatre, the Ear of Dionysus, the Cave of the Cordari, Island of Ortigia, the most ancient nucleus of the city with its stunning cathedral.
Re-entry in hotel in the late afternoon. Dinner and Overnight in Taormina area. 
 
TUESDAY: ETNA 
Breakfast in the hotel and departure to the Mt. Etna, the highest peak of Sicily and the most active volcano in Europe. The territory surrounding the volcano constitutes the “Park of Etna”, one of the  largest protected areas in Italy:  You will be astonished about the great variety of vegetation and landscapes that we will meet along the way before arriving at the “Silvesti Craters” (about 1.900 mt). From here on you will have the option to continue the excursion by jeep and cableway (extra cost €60). After having tasted some local Honey, cookies and wine, departure to Palermo by bus where you will arrive after three hours. Dinner and Overnight in Palermo area.  
 
 WEDNESDAY: ERICE – SEGESTA
Breakfast in the hotel and departure to Erice, a medieval town on the summit of Monte San Giuliano. Here we can admire the Norman Castle and the cathedral. Opt to stop at a bakery shop to taste the typical almond pastry of Erice (own expenses). Continuation to to Segesta, one of the major cities of the ancient indigenous Elymian people. Visit the still perfectly preserved  Doric temple and the theatre (Admission Fee: €8 not included), late 5th century BC, built on a hilltop just outside of the ancient city and has a commanding view of the surrounding area.
Re-entry in hotel in the afternoon and free time to go for a swim on the beach on your own. Dinner and Overnight.  
 
THURSDAY: MYSTERIOUS PALERMO & MONDELLO VILLAGE
Breakfast in the hotel. Departure to Palermo to start a visit that will take us through the city, emerging us in its history and mysteries. You will enjoy the Cappuccini Catacombs, a real insight into the past, where still today we can see more than 8000 mummified bodies of monks, noblemen and citizens who still wear the clothes of the 18th and 19th centuries.
After this particularly emotional visit, we will head to Piazza Marina, whose name comes by a former reenactment of the Inquisition, nowdays hedquarter of the University of Palermo. Many are the mysteries connected with this square. Free time at your leasure to discover the surroundings. We will then be thrilled by the history that surrounds the Monte Pellegrino, a calcareous mount, 609 meters high, which in the northern side closes the gulf of Palermo and in the southern side the gulf of Mondello. On the top of the Mount is located the shrine of Santa Rosalia, the patron saint of the city, Free time for the visit of the Church dedicated to Santa Rosalia and view of the Panorama from the Belvedere. Continue to the small town of Mondello,  known all over the world for its beaches, its several villas in Liberty style and for its historical sites, where you have free time for the visit of the famous seaside resort ( enjoying the promenade overlooking the pile-dwelling Charleston). Re-entry in hotel in the afternoon and free time to go for a swim on the beach on your own. Dinner and Overnight.
 
FRIDAY: HIGHLIGHTS PALERMO & MONREALE  - DEPARTURE
Breakfast in the hotel. In the morning visit of Monreale, a lovely town on the slopes of Monte Caputo overlooking Palermo. Monreale was named for the once numerous citrus orchards that dotted the fertile La Conca d’Oro valley below. Walk with your guide to Monreale Cathedral, considered one of the finest Norman constructions in the world. Hop on the coach for a quick drive to Palermo, Enjoy the visit at the Royal Palace (from outside), pause for photos outside of Palermo Cathedral (Admission Fee: €3 not included and headphones € 3), with its elegant Arabic arches and blue-gray dome. Enjoy a walking tour of Sicily’s capital, teeming with impressive art and ruins, Byzantine buildings and Baroque churches. You will also visit Piazza Pretoria, The Martorana Church (from outside), “I Quattro canti”, Via Maqueda,. We will then walk in the market "Capo" where we you can opt to eat some samples of authentic food in typical places with explanation about the snacks. You can opt to eat a tasty Sfincione, an amazing Sicilian “Arancini” and a typical Panino con Panelle (Supplement for food €10 not included). Continuation to Teatro Massimo. In the afternoon Transfer to Taormina area. Dinner and overnight.
