Catania è una provincia ricca di natura e cultura in cui poter ammirare il
maestoso paesaggio del Parco del Monte Etna, le ceramiche di Caltagirone, e il barocco
di Militello Val di Catania, e dove poter gustare i pistacchi di Bronte.
È uno dei centri turistici internazionali di maggiore rilievo della Sicilia
per il suo incantevole paesaggio naturale, le bellezze marine e i suoi monumenti
Cefalù viene citata per la prima volta dallo studioso Diodoro Siculo nel
396 a.C. ma la città si distingue per la sua impronta tipicamente medievale.
Partendo da piazza Garibaldi e proseguendo per corso Ruggero fino alla splendida
piazza del Duomo già si comincia a gustare l'atmosfera splendidamente intatta
di questa perla del mediterraneo.
Pantalica, la Valle d’Anapo, Palazzolo Acreide, Noto, Avola, Vindicari sono
soltanto alcuni dei luoghi da visitare in questa bellissima provincia. La città
conserva oggi tantissime testimonianze del passato visibili all’interno del
parco archeologico e nell’isola di Ortigia, nucleo originario della città.
Ciò che affascina di questa provincia è il ricchissimo patrimonio
archeologico (Cava d’Ispica, Monte Cassia, Camarina sono solo alcuni dei siti)
ed architettonico (Ragusa Ibla e Modica) Situata a sud dei Monti Iblei tra i corsi
dei fiumi Ippari ed Irminio, la città si distingue in due nuclei: Ragusa
Superiore e Ragusa Ibla.
Splendida provincia, conosciuta in tutto il mondo per i mosaici di Piazza Armerina
e per il lago di Pergusa, splendido luogo naturalistico in cui, secondo un antico
mito, Plutone rapì Proserpina.
La “terra dei castelli” è tra le province siciliane quella più
lontana dagli itinerari turistici tradizionali, ma è sicuramente un luogo
dove poter riscoprire e conoscere le tradizioni e la cultura del passato.
La provincia delle leggende e dei miti dell’eroe Ulisse, la provincia delle
isole Eolie. Situata sulla costa occidentale dello Stretto di Messina, il suo nome
più antico è Zancle (termine dorico siculo che significa falce ed
è riferito alla forma della penisola di San Ranieri).

DAY 1 - WEDNESDAY: ARRIVAL – WELCOME TO SICILY
Arrive in Catania from Vilnius. After having collected your luggage, meeting with your tour leader and departure to Taormina area. Arrival at the hotel. Free time to discover the surrounding of the hotel or to go for a swim on the beach on your own. Dinner and Overnight. (*) All customers who have booked an individual transport service (at extra charge), will meet our taxi driver at the airport arrivals with a sign displaying their name that will bring them to their hotel.
DAY 2 - THURSDAY: TAORMINA
Breakfast in the hotel. Transfer to Taormina. As you walk and discover the amazing town of Taormina, hear tales about the history and the evolution of Sicilian culture. Discover the importance of fresh and flavourful ingredients to Sicilian cuisine, and hear how the cuisine’s popularity has spread across the globe. Pass by beautiful old buildings, including the 15th-century Palazzo Corvaja and an ancient Roman theatre the 2nd largest classical theatre in Sicily (Admission fee €10 not included). Discover the medieval area of the town with its narrow strest and old shops. Re-entry at your hotel in the afternoon. Dinner and Overnight.
DAY 3 - FRIDAY : OPTIONAL EXCURSION PALERMO AND MONREALE
Breakfast in the hotel. This day you are free to relax and explore the city or go for a swim on the beach on your own or opt to join our full day excursion Palermo & Monreale. OPTIONAL EXCURSION PALERMO AND MONREALE: € 55 Start your day trip by boarding your air-conditioned coach at your hotel or at a meeting point and then relax and admire the scenery on the 3-hours journey west across the island to Palermo, Sicily’s main town. Firt stop is Monreale, a lovely town on the slopes of Monte Caputo overlooking Palermo. Monreale was named for the once numerous citrus orchards that dotted the fertile La Conca d’Oro valley below. Walk with your guide to Monreale Cathedral, considered one of the finest Norman constructions in the world.Hop on the coach for a quick drive to Palermo,Enjoy the visit at the Royal Palace (from outside), pause for photos outside of Palermo Cathedral (Admission fee € 3 not included), with its elegant Arabic arches and blue-gray dome. Enjoy a walking tour of
Sicily’s capital, teeming with impressive art and ruins, Byzantine buildings and Baroque churches. You will also visit Piazza Pretoria, The Martorana Church (from outside), “I Quattro canti”, Via Maqueda, Politeama Theatre (from outside). Continue to Teatro Massimo (from outside), the opera house. After lunch free time to explore the city on your own.
Reboard the coach at 15:30 and head back to Taormina. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 4 - SATURDAY: OPTIONAL “UNDISCOVERED SICILY”
Breakfast in the hotel. This morning you are free to relax and explore the city or go for a swim on the beach on your own or opt to join our half day excursion Undiscovered Sicily

Departure to Casiglione di Sicilia, a small medieval town also known as the “wine city”, where we you can admire Its legendary castle, rich palaces and churches. "Cannizzu" - a lookout tower split in two after being hit by lightning - is really impressive. Santa Domenica’s Church is also worth a visit; it is a rare, valuable example of Byzantine domed building of the seventh century. Then we discover Francavilla di Sicilia, a stunning town in the Alcantara valley, where a violent battle occurred between the Spaniards and Austrians in the 16th Century. Here we will also visit the Capucin Monastery (Admission fee €2 not included), founded in the 16th Century. After having tasted some local food and wine, we then head to the Alcantara Gorges (Gole dell’Alcantara). The game of light and shade on the steep walls of the gorge creates a world of illusion: in the crevices of the rocks you can guess the outline of the disclosed fan or even consider a Gothic cathedral! The water in the river is always cool, it attracts hundreds wishing to take a refreshing dip on hot summer days.
To get down into the gorge you can either take the stairs or there is an elevator (fee € 13 not included) that will whisk you down the 50 meters to the river. The small beach area is great for getting your feet wet, sunbathing, or if you desire to jump in there are areas where the water is a little deeper so you can dive in. Re-entry at your hotel in the afternoon.

DAY 5 – SUNDAY: CATANIA AND SIRACUSA
Breakfast in the hotel and departure to Catania by Bus for a walking tour through the streets into Catania’s UNESCO-listed historical center with its Baroque palazzi and amazing monuments. Before hopping on the bus, visit of the open-air fish market, famous for its particular colours. Continuation to Syracuse and meeting with our local guide to discover one of the most interesting archaeological sites of the island with its Archeological Park (Admission fee €10 not included), the Roman Amphitheatre, the Greek Theatre, the Ear of Dionysus, the Cave of the Cordari We will then visit the Island of Ortigia, the most ancient nucleus of the city with its stunning cathedral. Re-entry in hotel in the late afternoon. Dinner and Overnight.
DAY 6 – MONDAY: EXCURSION ETNA
Breakfast in the hotel. In the morning departure to the Mt. Etna, the highest peak of Sicily and the most active volcano in Europe. The territory surrounding the volcano constitutes the “Park of Etna”, one of the largest protected areas in Italy: You will be astonished about the great variety of vegetation and landscapes that we will meet along the way before arriving at the “Silvesti Craters” (about 1.900 mt). Hop out of your coach at the base station Rifugio Sapienza, and then enjoy roughly three hours at leisure to trek independently around the foothills of Mount Etna. The area is covered with hiking trails that zigzag in all directions, and your host will happily point you in the right direction for the Monti Silvestri Craters – two small, yet impressive, craters near the base station. On request and at extra cost (€60 not included), instead of spending three hours at leisure to trek independently around the foothills of Mount Etna, there is the possibility to get Mount Etna’s summit (3000 mt) by cableway and jeep with alpine guide. Dinner and Overnight.
DAY 7 –TUESDAY OPTIONAL EXCURSION AEOLIAN ISLANDS (LIPARI AND VULCANO)
Breakfast in the hotel. This day you are free to relax and explore the city or go for a swim on the beach on your own or opt to join our full day excursion Aeolian islands. OPTIONAL EXCURSION AEOLIAN ISLANDS: LIPARI AND VULCANO: € 72 Departure to the port Milazzo, take a to Lipari. After sailing along the headland coast of Capo Milazzo, direct transfer to Lipari to see Punta Castagna; in this area of old pumice pits and white beaches, you can admire the charming landscape and the characteristic sea color due to its clear seabed. After docking in Lipari, you can have the opportunity to visit the old town centre, where it will be possible to visit also a small archaeological museum in Castello, the cemetery, the Norman cathedral, the archeaological park and to do shopping. After departing from Lipari, direct transfer to the island of Vulcano for our second stop; the important attractions are the black beaches, hot springs and the sulfur mud baths. In the afternoon departure from Vulcano to sail around the mythological area of the Aeolian Islands, the Faraglioni, the Papa Giovanni rock, the Grotta degli Angeli and the Scoglio della Mummia. Particular attention to the wonderful Piscina di Venere, the charming Grotta del Cavallo and Scoglio del Leone. Return to Milazzo around 5.45 pm. Transfer to the hotel. Dinner and Overnight.

DAY 8 – WEDNSEDAY: TOUR OVER AFTER BREAKFAST
Breakfast in the hotel. Check out at 10:00. This morning you are free to relax and explore the city or go for a swim on the beach on your own. Transfer to Catania airport. Departure to Vilnius.Grazie e arrivederci! (*) Rooms must be left before 10:00 am. You can bring your baggage with you or you can leave it in the storage room of your hotel for free. On request and at extra charge, it is possible to keep the room until late afternoon.
